This article documents steps for changing LDMS Agents to and from Gateway Mode.
Add the line:
REG5399=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE\Intel\LANDesk\WUSER32\Gateway, 1, , REG_DWORD
To the end of the "Remote Control Post Copy" section of the agent configuration INI file. To enable all agents to install this way, add this section to the ntstacfg.in# file and ntstacfg.ini (the template for all agent configurations). After making the change to the ntstacfg files then open the agent configuration module and click the rebuild all button. That will make to change to all of the agent configuration .ini files.
After that, go to the "Agent Configuration" window in the LANDesk Management Suite Console, and click the icon on the tool bar for "Rebuild All".
NOTE: This will install the remote control service in gateway mode, but the first time the service starts it will be in direct mode. Restarting the "LANDesk Remote Control" service will result in Remote Control being in Gateway Mode.
Switch Mode after the agent is installed:
Modify the same registry key (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\LANDesk\WUSER32\Gateway)
Note: For a 64 bit version of Windows OS you will find this registry key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Intel\LANDesk\WUSER32\Gateway
0 = Direct Mode
1 = Gateway Mode
After the registry change is complete the LANDesk Remote Control Service will need to be started. This key is read when the service starts up.
