LANDesk Security and Patch News
- (December 27, 2010) In order to create unique filenames for patches in vulnerability definitions, LANDesk would usually add additional hashed text to make the patch name unique. This was most apparent with Microsoft patches. We have done some research around the current patch naming convention used by Microsoft and we have found that the patch names used by Microsoft are now unique and do not require us to add any additional text in order for it to be unique. Based on this research we updated our process to remove the hashed text from the patch filename for the vulnerability definitions. We made the change to simplify our process. This update will not affect the functionality or the security of the vulnerability definition content provided by LANDesk.
