How to change Require Permission Timeout?

    When you remote control a client and you have selected the option "End user must grant permission for remote control session" in the agent configuration, the window that pops up and asks end user to allow or deny remote control remains open for 20 seconds by default in LDMS 9.0 and around 10 seconds in LDMS 8.8.

    Sometimes it is necessary to actually increase this timeout to allow end user more time to decide. Below are steps how to change the timeout value.




    1. For a new agent, the timeout value can be changed in the agent configuration

    a. Open agent configuration and navigate to Remote Control > Permissions

    b. Enable the option "End user must grant permission for remote control session". This will also enable the option "Close permission message box after" at the bottom of the window

    c. The value can be changed to the desired value in seconds

    2. For agents that are already installed

    a. The settings for remote control behaviour are in the Window Registry under HKLM\Software\Intel\LANDesk\WUSER32 (for 64-bit HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Intel\LANDesk\WUSER32).

    b. The value is stored in "Request Permission Timeout". This can be modified through a script to the desired value in seconds.

    With this method the remote control service needs to be restarted in order for the change to take affect.


    3. Change settings in the agent configuration and deploy an agent update

    a. Change the settings as described above in option 1

    b. Save and exit agent configuration

    c. Right click your agent configuration and select "Schedule update to agent settings"

    Note, this will not install the agent, but it will apply changes to the agent such as the one for remote control settings.


    Note, these steps will not work for LDMS 8.8 agents as the timeout in there is hard coded.
