Error when logging in to Service Desk: 'Attribute type <<guid>> has a privileged item but is not privileged. Only attribute types that have IsPrivileged set to true can have a privileged item'.

    Problem:

     

    You are getting the following error when logging in to Service Desk:

     

    Attribute type <<guid>> has a privileged item but is not privileged. Only attribute types that have IsPrivileged set to true can have a privileged item.

    Solution:

     

    This means that a Privilege has been set on an Attribute but it hasn't actually been set to be Privileged which causes a conflict and therefore will not allow you to log in. This can happen, for example if your Console for any reason is hanging when saving Object Designer after you have made changes regarding Privileges.

     

    To fix, please have a look in your event log for the same error message where you can copy out the guid in the error message.

    Paste the guid in to the below script and run towards your database:

     

    update md_attribute_type set md_is_privileged = '1' where md_guid = '<<guid>>'
