Applies to LANDesk 9.0 SP3 and newer with Inspector
Inspector can be used to view real-time information on client devices such as CPU, memory, network usage and logged in user.
The steps below will assist in setting up the images directory used by Inspector to display the picture of the logged in user.
Note: Inspector requires the Baseline and Extended Real-time Inventory and Monitoring options to be enabled in the client configuration. Information on
configuring these settings can be found at Enabling Real-time Inventory and Monitoring.
Adding Pictures Manually
To add pictures manually simply copy the pictures to the C:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\images\inspector directory. The files need to be in JPG format and named as the user name such as jdoe.jpg. Inspector will display the picture as a 72x72 image. The images are automatically scaled to fit these dimensions.
Adding Pictures from LDAP
Pictures can also be imported from an LDAP connection. If the LDAP connection is already configured in LANDesk, the import will use the existing connection. If a new LDAP connection is required it can be added in the console under Tools > Distribution > Directory Manager.
From Directory Manager click the icon for Manage Directory. From the Active Directory source window click Add. Enter the LDAP connection information including the username and password.
After the LDAP connection information is configured, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ and run
ldphotoimport.exe. Ldphotoimport will query for pictures using the LDAP connection and will place them in the C:\Program Files
(x86)\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\images\inspector directory. Existing pictures will overwritten. Ldphotoimport can be run as a scheduled task on a weekly or monthly basis to keep the photos up to date.
