How to exclude devices Cloud Services Appliance clients from Software Distribution tasks

    Customers may wish to exclude computers connected to the Cloud Service Appliance (CSA) from receiving software distribution tasks in order to reduce the amount of bandwidth used.



    The following describes, how to exclude these devices form software distribution (SD) tasks, while retaining Inventory and Patch Manager functionalities.

    Because all communication between the client and CSA happens on port 443 via a secure channel, it is not possible to filter out traffic based upon port.



    One option would be to identify the machines, which are connected via the gateway - normally, these machines have a different IP address, than the machines on the network - to prevent them from being targeted by a SD task.

    The easiest way to achieve this is to use LANDESK Queries and target these queries with the SD tasks.



    If the machines, which are connected via the Gateway all have an IP like 192.168.2.XXX, you could filter on these machines in the following way:


    New query>TCP/IP>Bound Adapter>IP Address>LIKE 192.168.002


    This should list all devices, which are connected via the gateway, then you could exclude these in your LANDESK Queries, in which you define the targeted devices.
