    Environment:

    Windows 7, Windows 8, Internet Explorer 10

    Problem:

When using the Web Console in Internet Explorer 10 right-click menus in the interface do not appear. This makes machine tools (eg ping, scan, remote control, etc.) unavailable for use.

    Cause:

By default, Internet Explorer 10 enables compatibility view for all intranet sites. The Web Console requires HTML 5 to render correctly, and HTML 5 rendering is disabled in compatibility view.

    Solution:

Disable the default rendering of intranet sites in compatibility view through the following:

    Compatibility View settings.PNG

    - Open Internet Explorer and press the 'Alt' key to display the menu bar

    - From the 'Tools' menu select 'Compatibility View settings'

    - Clear the checkbox next to 'Display intranet sites in Compatibility View'

This setting can also be implemented as part of a group policy. The pertinent setting is located at:

Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Turn on Internet Explorer Standards Mode for Local Intranet

The group policy works in the opposite manner of the Internet Explorer setting. Enabling the policy forces standards-compliant mode (disables compatbility view), while disabling the policy has the opposite effect.
