Pre-pending or Appending to a Workstation ID

Version 6

    Issue/Problem:

A customized Workstation ID is needed that contains Pre-pended or Appended characters.

    Cause:

The need for customized Workstation ID that contains Pre-pended or Appended characters results from the decision to not use a Wavelink management console. If the management console was being used, a Terminal ID could be customized. Since the management console is not being used, the ability to create and use a customized Terminal ID for a Workstation ID is negated. The IBM Settings tab within the Host configuration utility does not provide any information for pre-pending or appending characters to the Workstation ID types listed.

    Solution:

Access the IBM Settings tab within the Host configuration utility.

    To pre-pend a Workstation ID

    1. Access the Host Profiles config utility and select the Workstation ID field. Place the desired pre-pending characters followed by the recommended syntax for IP address, MAC address, or Session number into the field. For example, RF%A%B%C
    2. Select OK and deploy to the device.

    To append a Workstation ID

    1. Access the Host Profiles config utility and select the Workstation ID field. Place the desired appending characters after the recommended syntax for IP address, MAC address, or Session number into the field. For example, %A%B%C RF
    2. Select OK and deploy to the device.

NOTE:Observe that the pre-pended or appended Workstation ID appear as determined within the TE Client connection.
