Can LDAP Transactions Be Logged Within Avalanche?

Version 1

Problem: Can LDAP transactions be logged within Avalanche?

    Caused By:

Because a change has taken place that stops authentication from occurring, Windows Active directory is not authenticating with the Avalanche SE (or MC) Server. Since, authentication is prevented from occurring, It would be helpful to know if LDAP transactions are logged within Avalanche? If so where and how can they be viewed?

    Solution:

LDAP transactions are logged within Avalanche. This is logged in the avalancheserver.log. The avalancheserver.log is located within the Avalanche SE (or MC) install dir \log directory.

A good login should look something like this:

    2011-01-07 09:48:27,257 DEBUG TransportAPI - 127.0.0.1:18811 Processing CP0 message IRMC_REQ/IRMS_LOGIN_USER (10/2307) cat 2

2011-01-07 09:48:27,320 INFO UserAPI - User dprice authenticated through LDAP

    2011-01-07 09:48:27,366 DEBUG TransportAPI - [A] Sending message IRMC_RSP/IRMS_LOGIN_USER (11/2307)

An unsuccessful login would look something like this:

    2011-01-07 09:58:45,429 DEBUG TransportAPI - 127.0.0.1:18946 Processing CP0 message IRMC_REQ/IRMS_LOGIN_USER (10/2307) cat 2

2011-01-07 09:58:45,710 INFO UserAPI - User login failed: LDAP: Bad username or password.
