    Problem:

I'm trying to view an approved article in WebDesk but I get the following error:

There has been an unexpected error. Click Continue to return to the previous page.

Attempt to write to attribute Effectiveness of a read-only Knowledge.Article lifecycle object. When a lifecycle object reaches a read-only status they cannot be modified except through a lifecycle action.

We haven't even got the effectiveness attribute on the window! The Approved Status is a Read Only Status.

    Cause:

This is a known issue in 7.6.1 and is happening as soon as the Article is being launched in a Read Only status. Service Desk will always try to write to the Effectiveness attribute even though this isn't on the window and this cannot happen when the status is read only.

This has been logged as problem: 5716.

The workarounds for this is to use Dynamic Window Rules to set all the attributes to Read Only when the Article is in a particular Status. This way the status itself can stay as Read/Write and the error message won't happen, but the Article will still show as Read Only.

For a step by step in how to implement this workaround, please see this article: http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-29742
