The goal of this article is to illustrate, how to configure a basic Rapid Deployment task in LDDA. It is not meant to be a comprehensive guide for Landesk Data Analytics Rapid Deployment.
For more in depth information, please visit the following website:
The purpose of Rapid Deployment is to create agent deployment tasks automatically for the new, unmanaged devices discovered by Unmanaged Device Discovery (UDD) and run all or only some of the UDD configurations on a regular bases.
Based upon the information gathered by UDD, it is possible to specify queries in Rapid Deployment, that will determine, which agent configuration will be deployed to the newly discovered device.
For more detailed information regarding UDD, please refer to the following article:
"E-Learining - Unmanaged Device Discovery"
(In this example the "Default Windows Configuration" will be pushed to the newly discovered device with the hostname "XP3" and the IP:"192.168.1.153")
Decide and configure the criteria(s), which will determine which agent configuration will be installed on what client. In this example "Default Windows Configuration" will be set up, by right clicking the configuration name and selecting "add"
Then creating a new query or importing an existing Landesk Query (in the below example a new query will be created for Subnet "192.168.1.0/24")
After clicking "Save" the newly configured query should be displayed under the configuration name
Configure the Rapid Deployment settings, by clicking the settings icon
Set up the how Rapid Deployment Service should work
(In this example automatic deployment will be enabled and all other settings are left with the default values)
Setup which UDD configuration should be run - if any - and its maximum execution time.
(In this example the UDD configuration "XP3" is selected and all other settings are left with the default values. Please note, that can also configure exclusions, if you wish)
After clicking "OK" 2 times, service restart should be requested - if you made any changes - and configuration will be saved.
Checking the results of the Rapid Deployment process:
After saving the above configuration 2 tasks should be created in "Scheduled Tasks" > "All Tasks"
1. The UDD task, which is responsible for running the UDD scans configured in Step 2 (in this example using the configuration "XP3", with the task name "-ZZ-XP3")
2. The actual agent deployment task, which will in fact install the agent on the newly discovered device (in this example device "XP3", with the task name "-ZZ-Default Windows Configuration")
