What does Affected Platforms reference?
Detection logic: Affected platforms page Identifies the operating systems the security scanner will run on to check for this rule's associated definition. In other words, only devices matching the selected platforms will attempt to process this rule. At least one platform MUST be selected. If a target device is running a different operating system, the security scanner quits.
What Platforms will remain?
The Desktop operating systems: The following desktop operating systems will be enabled as Affected Platforms: Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8
What Platforms will be removed?
The Server operating systems: The following server operating systems will not be enabled as Affected Platforms: Server 2003, Server 2008 and Server 2012.
These operating systems will not be included per the following notice found in this Microsoft Article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931125
The KB 931125 package that was posted to Windows Update and WSUS on December 11, 2012, was intended only for client SKUs. However, the package was also offered for server SKUs. Because some customers reported issues after they installed the package on servers, the KB 931125 updates for server SKUs were expired from Windows Update.
