Issue: Vpro Password Not Saving

    After entering a password for Intel vPro general configuration and selecting OK, it’s found that the password is blank upon opening the window again:

    LANDESK Support has identified a number of potential causes for this issue.

    Cause 1: LANDESK Management Suite version is 9.5 SP2 (or earlier) and installed on a Non-Default drive location.


    This has been known to cause the LDCryptoConfigUtil.exe utility to not function properly, failing to generate the LdCryptoConfig.xml. To verify this, browse to C:\Program Files\LANDesk\Shared Files\keys on the core server and verify ldcryptoconfig.xml doesn't exist.



        This issue was resolved in the LD95-SP2-CP_BASE-2014-0310 patch. This fix was included in the Service Pack 3 release for 9.5. For access for this patch, please reference this Community Document.


    Cause 2: Single Sign-On is being used in conjunction with the Remote Console


    Using this configuration is known to cause issues when accessing the OOBE Credentials table in the LANDESK Database. The Intel vPro general configuration window will show blank as shown at the start of this document.


    Attempting to save a new password should result in the following error:

        Set Single Sign-On to either Mixed or None. This is configured by going to Configure > Services > General Tab on the Core Console.

      •     If selecting Mixed, a password will need to be entered before logging into the Remote Console.

    Cause 3: Core was upgraded from 9.5 to 9.6 with a Non-Default drive location


    In some instances, LDCryptoConfigUtil.exe will have an error during  installation when upgrading a 9.5 core to 9.6/2016 that has a Non-Default drive location. The Intel vPro general configuration window will show blank as shown at the start of this document.


    To verify the issue, attempt to configure a new vPro password and verify the ldcryptoconfig.xml does not exist under C:\Program Files\LANDesk\Shared Files\keys.



        Open a CMD prompt as administrator and CD to %ldms_home%. Run the following command:


              LDCryptoConfigUtil.exe /symmAlgorithmId=AES /symmKeySize=256 /symmBlockMode=ECB


        Verify that the new ldcryptoconfig.xml has been generated under C:\Program Files\LANDesk\Shared Files\keys.
