How to configure Service Desk to clear out deleted AD users
In earlier versions of the LANDesk® Service Desk Console, when you imported items, such as users or customers, you could not map attributes to indicate that a specific user or product no longer existed within your database. In 7.1.3 and later versions, you can map these attributes.
For example, you may have a very large customer database that you want to import into the LANDesk® Service Desk Console. Within this external database, you may have a number of customers that are no longer with your organization. Instead of having to manually delete these users in either your external database or once they are within the LANDesk® Service Desk Console database, you can map the ‘deleted’ attribute to a ‘soft delete’ attribute, so that they are automatically deleted. This will save you time and effort.
The attribute that you use to indicate a true or false value is the attribute that you need to map to the Soft Deletion attribute. This is typically a boolean data type. The True value could be Y, Yes, True, 1 and so on as opposed to the False value which could be N, No, False, 0 and so on.
To import items into the LANDesk® Service Desk Console:
1 - In the LANDesk® Service Desk Console, start the Data Import component.
2 - Create a Connection to your external data source.
3 - Create a new Import Mapping, selecting the connection and connection type that you have created to your external database.
4 - Map the required attributes as you would usually do.
5 - In the Source Attributes list, select the attribute that indicates that the user has left, and drag it onto the Soft Deletion attribute on the Target Attributes list.
6 - On the Target Attributes list, right-click Soft Deletion, then click Convert Attribute Values on the shortcut menu.
The Default Attribute Conversions dialog box appears.
7 - In the True Value box, type the value that represents True, for example, Y or Yes, or True and so on.
8 - Click OK.
9 - Click Save.
10 - Schedule the import as usual, or import immediately.
