To gain additional information about errors that are occurring in the client-side application, install the debugger version of the Flash Player.

Determine your Flash version and current debug status

Determine your Flash version and current debug status

    1. Visit http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html using the web browser you want to use for testing
    2. Click on the "Check Now" button
    3. Note the version number and whether you are already running the debugger version
    4. If already running in debug mode, skip to the "Clear the log" section

    Download Debugger Flash Player

    1. Download the version of the debug player that matches the version noted in the previous section.  The downloads are found athttp://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    2. The most recent versions should have links right on that page.  If you are running an older version of the Flash Player, look for a link to the archive of older versions
    3. If you download an older version from the archives, unzip the file and be sure to read any included text file to determine which file to install.  There are different files for different browsers, so be sure to run the installer for the browser you will use
    4. Install the debug player (Note: Adobe suggests uninstalling the existing player and rebooting before installing the debug player, which is probably the best way to avoid problems; however it is usually okay to install the debugger without first uninstalling Flash)
    5. Visit http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html using the web browser you want to use for testing
    6. Click on the "Check Now" button
    7. Confirm that you are running the debug version
    8. If not, you may have installed the debugger for the wrong browser.  Repeat this section, ensuring you install the debugger for the correct browser
