Detailed description of the RF Signal strength Indicator / Info Item

    Resolution

The RF Indicator meter is a relative indicator of signal strength provided by the RF hardware on the terminal. The accuracy depends on the hardware vendor. Some vendors do not provide a very accurate value. They may be basing the value on a different brand of access point that produces more or less power. The meter should be used pretty much the same way you use the "signal bars" on a cell phone.

You can tap on the meter to display the current % strength value, but this will not be any more accurate than the visual display.

If you see an 'X' in the meter it means that the device is not associated. Even if it is associated, it does not mean that the RF security protocols are all fully established.

If you see a '?' in the meter it means that the RF hardware failed to return a strength value and the status is unknown.
