    Error message:

Can't contact remote computer using LANDesk PDS2 discovery

    Problem:

When initiating a remote control session with a device, you get to the connection screen and see "Can't contact remote computer using LANDesk PDS2 discovery".

    Solutions:

Be sure that you are able to connect to the core/client through ports 9595 and 9535. Also check if 'LANDesk Management Agent' service is running (if it is stopped, start it). If it is not installed, follow solution 3.

You can validate the ports are open by navigating to http://clientIP:9595/allowed/ldping and http://clientIP:9535 from the core. Port 9595 will give you a screen that shows the UID and the host name of the device. 9535 will just have a bunch of garbled text.

    Solution 1: Reinstall the agent

        1. Uninstall the agent using a /forceclean switch:

              - Copy the file Uninstallwinclient.exe from \Program Files\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldmain on the core to a local drive on the client.

              - In command prompt, navigate to the folder in which you copied the file to

            - Run command: UninstallWinClient.exe /forceclean /ui

        2. Uninstall cba8inst.msi:

              - From the client, navigate to \Program Files\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldlogon on the core

              - Search for cba8inst.msi, right click it, and choose uninstall

        3. Reboot the client machine

        4. On the core, redeploy the agent to this device using standard deployment.

        5. Test if remote control works. If you do not see the machine on the core, run an inventory scan on the client then test remote control.

Solution 2: Run an inventory scan on the client

        1. On the client machine, open command prompt.

        2. Enter the following command to force a sync with the core:

              - "C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDClient\ldiscn32.exe" /NTT=CORENAME:5007 /f /sync

NOTE: The file path may vary depending on where you decided to install LANDesk

        3. Test if remote control works

    Solution 3: Reinstall CBA8

        1. Uninstall cba8inst.msi:

              - From the client, navigate to \Program Files\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldlogon on the core

              - Search for cba8inst.msi, right click it, and choose uninstall

        2. Install cba8inst.msi:

              - From the client, navigate to \Program Files\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldlogon on the core

              - Search for cba8inst.msi, right click it, and choose install

        3. Test if remote control works
