LANDesk 2016 Remote Console Issue: Compatibility Issues With 32 Bit Office 2010 (Configuration Occurs When Launched)

    Error message:

    After the LDMS Remote Console is installed,whenever Microsoft Office is launched, it goes through a configuration process (takes about 5 minutes):

    Problem:


    Microsoft does not support the side by side install of 32 and 64-bit Microsoft Office 2010 (Microsoft Access database engine 2010). (Per Compatibility Between the 32-bit and 64-bit Versions of Office 2010)

    LDMS 2016 uses the 64 bit Microsoft Access database engine 2010 for some functionality in the console and having the 32 bit and 64 bit engine installed on a device is not supported by Microsoft.


    Solution / Workaround:


    Temporary workaround:

     

    You can uninstall the 64 bit Microsoft Access database engine 2010, repair MS office, and reboot and the issue with office will be resolved. You may lose some functionality in the remote console due to incompatibility with the 32 bit driver such as exporting reports, CSV exports, and some importing functions. However, this should get your Console up and running and restore functionality to office.

     

    Permanent resolution:

     

    Install a version of Office that uses the 64 bit version of Microsoft Access database engine 2010 or uninstall Office on the device.
