Rollout project RBA rights and Dashboard RBA rights do not show up in Role properties dialog after core server upgrade

    "Dashboard" and "Rollout Project" roles are missing when logged in as a LANDesk Administrator in User Management(RBA) after upgrading from LDMS 9.5 or 9.6 to LDMS 2016.





    During the upgrade process, the enuDefaultPermissions.xml file is supposed to be updated by the installer to reflect the changes made in LDMS 2016 and the addition of the new "Rollout Project" feature.


    However there might be situations when the XML file didn't get properly updated, causing this issue.





    1. Create a full backup of your LDMS database


    2. Make sure that all Landesk consoles are closed.


    3. On your core server, edit the following XML file:


    If you own an English version of LDMS: "enuDefaultPermissions.xml" located in the \LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ folder


    If you own a French version of LDMS: "fraDefaultPermissions.xml" located in the \LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ folder


    If you own a German version of LDMS: "deuDefaultPermissions.xml" located in the \LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ folder

    3. Search the XML for the following line:


    <Permission Name="Dashboard" Group="" id="104">

    <Right Name="Edit Public" id="3"/>



    <Permission Name="Rollout projects" Group="" id="103">

    <Right Name="View" id="0"/>

    <Right Name="Edit" id="1"/>

    <Right Name="Edit Public" id="3"/>



    Most probably these lines will be missing.


    4. Rename the XML file  by adding the ".old" extension (for instance "enuDefaultPermissions.xml.old" for an English version of LDMS)


    5. Go to the LDMS 2016 installation source and copy the file "...\LANDeskSoftware10\LANDesk\PF\LD\MS\_non\enuDefaultPermissions.xml" (or the corresponding file if you run a non-english version of LDMS) to the ManagementSuite directory.


    6. From an administrative cmd Prompt:  Run the command: "C:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\createlandeskrights.exe /xml=enuDefaultPermissions.xml"


    7. Log back into the core console.


    You should now see the "Dashboard" and "Rollout Project" roles in the RBA section of the Landesk console.
