Users Can't See New Devices Immediately After Being Added To The Device List - How Does Refresh Scopes Work

    Problem:

    Scoped users are unable to see devices that are added to the console for up to an hour after the device has added to the database.

     

    Cause:

    By default, scopes are refreshed every hour. If a user is a scoped user, they will fall under those restrictions. Below I will go over a few options to work around that restriction.

     

    Solution / Workaround:

    If the user has the right to "Refresh Scopes" all they have to do is press that button to refresh their device view. See screenshot below for an image of the RBA right and the Refresh Scopes button location.

    The default scope refresh interval time is controlled by the scheduler service. You can change this interval time to a more aggressive refresh time if desired. This does refresh AD queries and LDMS queries for all scheduled tasks and scopes as well, so performance may be impacted if you have a large environment. The setting in the scheduler service is called "Time between query evaluations" and here is a screenshot of that setting:
