Best Practices: How to deploy Velocity APK and Configuration File (WLDEP) with Avalanche

    Environment:

    Avalanche 6.1 SP3

    Android Device already connected to your Avalanche Server

     

    Overview:

    • How to deploy Velocity APK file to your Android device the device using Avalanche
    • How to deploy Velocity configuration file (WLDEP) with Avalanche to your Android devices

     

    How to deploy Velocity (or any) APK file to your Android device:

     

    1. Log into Avalanche
    2. Navigate to the location where you would like to deploy Velocity
    3. Click the + (plus) sign in the payload section:

    4. Select Android and Software

    5. Name your payload
    6. For Package ID put com.wavelink.velocity
    7. For Manifest URL put the URL where your apk is hosted, for example "http://www.wavelink.com/apps/Velocity_Android_ARM_1.2.104.apk"
    8. For Package Version put 1.2.104
    9. Press save

    10. Pres Save
    11. In the Available profiles section, press the + sign button
    12. Name the profile
    13. Scroll down to "Software" and check the box next to your package name

    15. Check the box next to your profile and press the check mark to apply the profile

    16. Perform a universal deployment
    17. Your device should receive the APK upon it's next sync.

     

    How to deploy Velocity with Avalanche to your Android device:

    1. Log into Avalanche
    2. Navigate to the location where you would like to deploy Velocity
    3. Click on the Profiles tab
    4. Click the + sign in the Payload section:

    5. Select Android and then Select "File"

    6. Name the payload
    7. For the file path, enter "/internal/com.wavelink.velocity"
    8. Browse to your WLDEP file and upload it

    9. Press Save
    10. Now you must add your payload to a profile and apply the profile (see instructions below)

     

    How to create a profile and add your payload to the profile

    1. On the profiles page, click the + in the Available Profiles section

    2. Select Smart Device Profile

    3. Name the profile
    4. Check the box next to your payload

      NOTE: You can check the Action for "Resync" to auto sync when you deploy the change to your device.

    5. Click Save
    6. Check the box next to your profile and press the check mark to apply the profile

    7. Perform a universal deployment
    8. After your deployment has finished, press sync on the enabler (unless you used the auto sync option in the profile)
    9. Your new / updated WLDEP file should appear in your menu when you open Velocity
    10. If you don't think it is updated, then open the Avalanche enabler and press "Sync" to make sure that your device has checked in.
