During the logoff/shutdown, AppSense will attempt to block the process whilst the following take place
- Personalization Sync of WSG
- Personalization Sync of any opened applications
- Policy logoff Actions
- Policy shutdown actions
If you see that all, or some of the above is failing, this could be related to Group Policy.
This can occur due to a number of issues but one possibility is the presence of the following Group Policy:
Turn off automatic termination of applications that block or cancel shutdown
The location of this, and is description can be foundbelow:
Computer Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> System --> Shutdown Options
This policy setting specifies whether Windows will allow console applications and GUI applications without visible top-level windows to block or cancel shutdown. By default, such applications are automatically terminated if they attempt to cancel shutdown or block it indefinitely.
During the logoff/shutdown, AppSense will attempt to block the process to complete all necessary functionality which is outlined in the introduction. With the above policy in place, the Operating System will terminate the software and you will not see these complete succesfully in time before termination.
