When using the option to 'Download and Install configuration at Startup' option within the AppSense Management Server Console, you may find that the configurations are not installed at startup even if the endpoint is polling correctly.
The 'Download and Install Configuration at Startup' option is generally used with VDI machines which launch from a gold image to ensure that any changes to a configuration are installed in time to apply and do not need to be baked into the image. When building your gold image, it is important to ensure that your gold image has polled the Management Server after turning the option on within the deployment group. Alternatively, the following registry value should be configured within the image:
Registry Key - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AppSense Technologies\Communications Agent\configschedule
Value - download configs on startup
Data - 1 (REG_DWORD)
If the option is disabled on the image but enabled on the target Deployment Group your VDI will belong to, the endpoint will poll the Management Server at boot and go on to enable the option but this will be too late to download and install the configuration. The option needs to be configured prior to that first poll. In the above example, if the machine was persistent, this would then go on to install the configuration at the next reboot however non-persistent machines will lose the setting and revert back to gold image for the next boot..
