When installing on a Windows 2008 R2 platform, PMCSS can sometimes display an error at the end of the Server Configuration Utility (SCU) setup wizard.
The error message includes the text:
"This configuration section cannot be used at this path. This happens when the section is locked at a parent level"
The SCU will also present a number of variances which includes the text:
"Some IIS7 features have not been appropriately delegated"
The problem is caused by feature delegation settings in IIS 7.5 which are sometimes set to DENY custom HTTP handlers within web applications.
The custom HTTP handlers are necessary for PMCSS to function.
To resolve the problem, launch the following from the command prompt:
%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe unlock config /section:handlersThe SCU wizard should then be re-run.
This is done by clicking on the Run Wizard link within the root node of the SCU.
