Group Policy editor raises an error when using the Internet Explorer 11 Administrative Templates

    After downloading the below administrative templates for Internet Explorer 11 (IE11), the Environment Manager (EM) Group Policy editor reports "There are no user policies to display within the selected Group policy"


    As detailed on the Microsoft download installation instructions (see above link), and the related MSDN article (see below link), the machine editing the policy settings has to either have IE11 installed, or the ADMX and ADML files (contained in the download) copied to the local PolicyDefinitions folder manually.

    "You won't see the new policy settings if you try to view or edit your policy settings on a computer that isn't running Internet Explorer 11. To fix this, you can either install Internet Explorer 11, or you can copy the updated Inetres.admx and Inetres.adml files from another computer to the PolicyDefinitions folder on this computer."
