Use of CEBrowseX and external object in our Browser

Version 1

    Verified Product Versions

    Wavelink Naurtech CETerm 5.7

    To use the object, we recommend creating the object within JavaScript rather than using <object> tags. Here is a code snippet:

    <script>

      var external = new ActiveXObject("Cebrowsex.IdaCtl");

      var ver = external.CETerm.GetProperty("app.version");

    ...

    </script>

    Note that under Windows CE, the "external" object is pre-defined and contains the same CETerm references. To write code that works on both Windows Mobile and Windows CE you can use a construct like this:

    if (typeof external === "object") // === identity operator

    {

       // Windows CE

    }

    else

    {

       // Windows Mobile

       // NOTE: No "var" so that external is created in global namespace.

       external = new ActiveXObject("Cebrowsex.IdaCtl");

    }

    var ver = external.CETerm.GetProperty("app.version");

    ...
