Legacy Licenses reappearing in the Management Console after being deleted

    Introduction

    After deleting AppSense legacy product licenses for versions 8.x from the Management Console, you may find the next time you open the Management Console they reappear.

     

    Detail

    The above issue is seen due to the legacy licenses still being present in the local registry of the Management Console(s). When deleting the licenses from the Management Console they are removed from the database but remain in the registry, this is usually when the legacy liceses were added using our AppSense Licensing Console.

     

    Solution

    Open the Management Console and make note of the license ID for each of your 8.x legacy product licenses, after this go to each of your Management Servers (If you have more than one) and open the Management Console on all the servers (At the same time), delete the licenses and close the console(s). Once completed navigate to the registry on each of your Management Servers and look for any traces of the license ID for each of your 8.x legacy product licenses in the following registry keys.

     

    - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AppSense Technologies\Licensing

    - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Appsense Technologies\Licensing

     

    Delete any of the references you find to the old 8.x licenses.
