In the event that errors are experienced within Xtraction, enabling verbose logging allows the support team to better diagnose the root cause of the issue. By default, Xtraction logs Error-level messages, however, the process outlined below will allow the logs to provide more details in determining the root cause of an issue where the default Error-level messages do not suffice.
Note: Xtraction logs are rolling log files. This means each log file is allowed to reach a maximum of 10MB in size. 10 of these 10MB files will be kept before they are overwritten.
Step by Step
1. On the Xtraction server navigate to the config file you wish to enable verbose logging on. Most of the config files reside within the C:\Program Files (x86)\Xtraction Software\Xtraction\Tools directory, However, in the example below, the Web.config file is targeted which exists within the C:\Program Files (x86)\Xtraction Software\Xtraction\Web\Server directory.
2. Once you have located the .config file you wish to enable logging on, open this file using a text editor such as Notepad or Notepad++ and locate the <appSettings> </appSettings> lines within the file. Add the following between the two sets of tags <add key="LogLevel" value="ALL"/> . If <add key="LogLevel" value="ERROR" /> already exists within the config file, change the "ERROR" value to "ALL" and save the changes. The changes have been made to the web.config file in the screenshot below:
3. Recreate the issue. Upon re-creation, you will see additional information added to the Xtraction.web.log within the C:\Program Files (x86)\Xtraction Software\Xtraction\Data\Log directory.
