Details

How to create further GM+View templates based on other web sites or related to different fields for a record or also other Social Networks?

    [PREREQUISITES]
    - Verify that the website provides the search term in the address bar when searching for the keyword e.g. in
    https://www.google.com

    or similar on Viadeo http://www.viadeo.com

    - It is helpful to remove unnecessary information from the link as possible, Google search contains ONLY the search term, the default Viadeo search contains unnecessary information and can be shortened to http://www.viadeo.com/v/search/members?&search_origin=unified_header&q=test

    - If the search is included within the web site and does not change the address bar then a GM+View is not possible with the following steps and further programming using an API might be necessary.

    Resolution

    Preparation of the GM+View template

Create a txt file with the code of a pre-existing functioning GM+View template

    1. Log into GoldMine with master rights
    2. Web > Setup GM+View
    3. In the Template list > Highlight an existing template. for example the Google Company Search template for normal Website searches or one of the social media templates for similar searches in different social media web sites
    4. Edit
    5. In the Edit template name GM+View window > click into the body (so that the toolbar for the template becomes active)
    5. Click the <H> icon in order to get the HTML code of the template

    6. Right Click into the body > Select All (or CTRL +A)
    7. Right Click into the body > Copy (or CTRL + C)

    8. Paste the content from the Windows Clipboard into a new Notepad txt file and save it for example. on the Desktop

    9.
adjusting a Google search for a different criteria for example a user defined field USIC which stores the SIC Code (Standard Industrial Classification) of the company’s record

    - Fields and values in GoldMine

    - Because the original code from the Google Contact Search GM+View template is taken into the text file, it is not necessary to adjust the complete web address, instead adjust the search field. T
his means in the existing code the contact1->contact needs to be replaced with the user defined field contact2->usic making sure that additional tags like << and >&gt are not replaced
    - In addition, add the term SIC Code as a further limitation as otherwise a lot of invalid results will appear in the Google search

    The original code url=http://www.google.com/search?q=<<contact1->contact>>

    Will be replaced with url=http://www.google.com/search?q=&SIC+Code+<<contact2->usic>>

    - Save the file with the new code

    B. changing the template to search for the contact information on a different social network web site for example Viadeo

(here the original code from Facebook Contact Search was taken as base HTML code – but the same would work also with the Google Contact Search template)

    - As the original code from the Facebook Contact Search GM+View template was taken into the text file, it is not necessary to adjust the field information but instead only the web address – URL information, this means in the above case the part https://www.facebook.com/#!/search/results.php?q= needs to be replaced with the proper web site address http://www.viadeo.com/v/search/members?&search_origin=unified_header&q=

    - The original code window.location="https://www.facebook.com/#!/search/results.php?q=<<contact1->contact>>" will be replaced with window.location="http://www.viadeo.com/v/search/members?q=<<contact1->contact>>"

    - Save the file with the new code

    C. Changing the template to search for a user defined field on a different web site for example. NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) based on the UNAICS field for a record

    - Fields and values in GoldMine

    - Website example for NAICS lookup > https://siccode.com/en/naicscode/list/lookup/search_keyword/test

    - As the original code from the Google Contact Search GM+View template was taken into the text file, it is now necessary to adjust both – the web address – URL information and the field information
    - This means in the above case the original URL
url=http://www.google.com/search?q= needs to be replaced with the proper web site address https://siccode.com/en/naicscode/list/lookup/search_keyword/
    - This means in the above case the search field contact1->contact needs to be replaced with the proper user defined field contact2->unaics

    - The original code url=http://www.google.com/search?q=<<contact1->contact>> will be replaced with url=https://siccode.com/en/naicscode/list/lookup/search_keyword/<<contact2->unaics>>

    - Save the file with the new code
