Version 1

    Details

Do you have a document to explain the correct process to use, to backup and restore a database for LiveTime on SQL Server 2005.

    Resolution

The correct process is as follows:

LiveTime should be stopped and then the database can be backed up or restored in SQL Server.

There are a number of ways to make duplicate copies of a database in SQL Server and the DBA will pick the best method for this.

However, possibly the simplest of methods would be to use SQL Server Management Studio, where the database can be right clicked on to select the Tasks > Backup option. This can be sent to a script using the Script drop down, if configuring this to run on a schedule. The Restore option can also be found in the Tasks menu.

Ultimately, the backing up of the database would be down to the DBA.
