Perform action: E-mail message > Options button is not functional when setting up an Automated Process

Version 1

    Details

When creating or modifying an automated process you add or change the option to perform an Email message, the Options button is not functional and nothing happens.

How can this Options button be made active?

    Resolution

    [CAUSE]
The user who set-up the Automated Process needs in his Email account settings at least an SMTP Server value. Very often an Automated Process is setup by a user (for example MASTER) who does not have any Email account set up therefore this button is inactive

    [RESOLUTION]
    A. Setup the Automated Process as a user who has Email settings configured.
    1. Cancel the Automated process creation process OR if already several steps were created make a different temporary event where no E-mail settings are required
    2. Log off of GoldMine as the actual User
    3. Log in as a GoldMine user with Email account set-up
    4. Tools > Automated Processes > Manage Automated Processes and start over again or browse to the previous saved Automated Process and make sure to adjust the temporary set-up Perform Action Event
    5. This time the Options button should be active and open the Email Options window

    B. Set-up Email settings for the user who actually sets up the Automated Process
    1. Cancel the Automated process creation process OR if already several steps were created make a different temporary event where no Email settings are required
    2. Tools > Options
    3. Tab Email
    4. As a minimum request the SMTP server field needs a value (e.g. test); of course it is recommended to set a proper Email account especially as this would be required if this user will send the Emails.
    5. OK (> OK)
    6. Tools > Automated Processes > Manage Automated Processes and start over again or browse to the previous save Automated Process and make sure to adjust the temporary set-up Perform Action Event
    7. This time the Options button should open the Email Options window
