The full text search does not work as expected when an asterisk (*) is used as a wildcard at the beginning of a text.

Version 1

    Details

The full text search does not work as expected if an asterisk (*) is used as a wildcard at the beginning of a text.
When using the asterisk behind some characters the searching works correctly

    Resolution

Leading Wildcard searches (e.g. using "*uster" to match "Cluster") is not supported in MS SQL.

    see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms142583.aspx

"... All text that matches the text specified before the asterisk (*) is returned. If the text and asterisk are not delimited by double quotation marks, as in CONTAINS (DESCRIPTION, 'top*'), full-text search does not consider the asterisk to be a wildcard..."
