    Enter a date using the 2 digit year format  using periods when creating a new contact does not stick (for example  07.23.13) and will result in a blank value, while same works for  existing records

    [PRE REQUISITS]
    Tools > Options > Record > Use a word format for user defined dates as default MMM d, yy

    [STEPS TO PREPARE]
    1. Log in with master rights
    2. Browse to Art Bardtoll
    3. Right Click on Primary view > New Field
    4. New Field
    a. Field Name = UDOB
    b. Description DOB
    c. Field Type = Date
    5. OK
    6. Place field on the primary view  for example, direct under Acct Manager
    7. Leave all as default for field properties
    8. OK
    9. Rebuild > Yes

    [STEPS TO REPRODUCE]

    1. Create a new contact
    2. Enter a name, company, and date in the user defined field DOB for example 07.23.05 with periods (regardless of the current set regional settings, you may need to enter 23.07.05)




    [RESULT]
    The value is still visible when leaving the field




    3. Click OK

    [RESULT]
    - Although there appeared no error message the date field is blank in the created contact record



    4. As the field should be empty as in the screenshot  >> enter in to the field 07.23.05



    5. Leave the field e.g. go to Phone1

    [Result 2]
    - When a record is already created the same date information entered will be accepted within GoldMine

    [CAUSE]
    - This is RM # 207544

    [WORKAROUND]

    - When using Use a word format for user defined dates: as default MMM d, yy the date should always either be entered with 4 year digits or alternatively selected from the Calendar Lookup window
