Approval vote tracking emails are being sent twice to one Approver

    Details

    Approval vote tracking emails are being sent twice to one recipient. The tracking ID for each email is different - usually 1 number apart. 


    The workflow is not duplicated in Workflow History.
    The Get Approval block is only executed once in the Workflow Execution History.

     


    Resolution

    One possible solution to the above problem is if the Employee the approvals are being sent to is listed twice in the Employee business object, and the picklist the approver is selected from is using Display Name as it's value.


    Open the Approval. Click 'Go to' on the Approval Vote Tracking record. 
    On Approval Vote Tracking, highlight each of the duplicate emails and click 'Go to' to open the email. Check the destination address.
         - If the email addresses are the same, check the Employee business object for two accounts with the same email address. 
         - If the email addresses are different, check the Employee business object for two accounts with the same display name.
      ***Also check the External Contact business object for duplicate account emails or display names from Employee***

    Finally, check the picklist used to select the approver, and verify what the 'Value field' is. 
         - If the value field is email address, and two employee accounts have the same email address, it will not be able to distinguish between the two.
          - If the value field is display name, and two employee accounts have the same display name, it will not be able to distinguish between the two.
