The AIS (Associated Item Selector)  does not return all qualified records when a few characters are entered

Version 1

    Details

For example, a User  types “schm” in a customer associated item selector on the Incident form but, the dropdown list only returns 3 names.  When the same query is used in SQL, many more records are returned.

    Resolution

The Dropdown list for  Associated Item Selector only queries the top 10 records based on the entered  text and consolidates duplicated items. This limitation enables improved performance and, if the expected value is not in the returned list,  then the user can tab out to see the complete list in a dialog box.  T

In this example, the following records are  returned as the top 10.

    Schmid, Alexander
    Schmid, Alexander
    Schmid, Alfred
    Schmid, Alfred
    Schmid, Alfred
    Schmid, Alfred
    Schmid, Alfred
    Schmid, Andreas
    Schmid, Andreas
    Schmid, Andreas

In the Associated Item Selector dropdown list, the user cannot tell the  difference between the duplicated values.  Therefore, ITSM consolidates and displays the 3  distinctive values from the list :

    Schmid, Alexander
    Schmid, Alfred
    Schmid, Andreas

When a user selects a value that has more than one qualified record, then ITSM  will display a dialog box with a list of all qualified customer names with  detailed information, so that the user can select the  correct record.

By default the customer Associated Item  Selector uses a “Starts with (text%)” search.  However, a user can change to  “Contains (%text%)” search.
