How to tell when indexing has finished on universal search

Version 1

    Details

Is there a way to tell if the universal search has finished building the indexes and populating universal search?

    Resolution

There is no way to tell in GoldMine if the Catalog is still being populated, however you can view the status of the Full Text Search catalog file from within SQL server management studio.  - Open SQL Management studio - Expand databases - Expand the GoldMine database - Expand Storage - Expand Full text Catalogs - Right click the ftscat_GoldMine entry - Click Properties - Review the population Status.

The below SQL script can also be run in SQL Management studio to give an indication of the status of the Full Text Search catalog file.  DECLARE @CatalogName VARCHAR(MAX) SET     @CatalogName = 'ftscat_GoldMine' --where "ftscat_GoldMine" is the name of the Full Text Search catalogue file  SELECT     DATEADD(ss, FULLTEXTCATALOGPROPERTY(@CatalogName,'PopulateCompletionAge'), '1/1/1990') AS LastPopulated     ,(SELECT CASE FULLTEXTCATALOGPROPERTY(@CatalogName,'PopulateStatus')         WHEN 0 THEN 'Idle'         WHEN 1 THEN 'Full Population In Progress'         WHEN 2 THEN 'Paused'         WHEN 3 THEN 'Throttled'         WHEN 4 THEN 'Recovering'         WHEN 5 THEN 'Shutdown'         WHEN 6 THEN 'Incremental Population In Progress'         WHEN 7 THEN 'Building Index'         WHEN 8 THEN 'Disk Full.  Paused'         WHEN 9 THEN 'Change Tracking' END) AS PopulateStatus FROM sys.fulltext_catalogs AS cat
