Networked workstation(s) are being prompted to browse to the GoldMine license file every time a user attempts to log in

Version 1

    Details

    Networked workstation(s) are being prompted to browse to the GoldMine license file every time a user attempts to log in

    Resolution

    Settings to verify:

    1. The GoldMine shared directory on the application server that contains the License.bin, Licensegm.bin or licensegm94.bin has full read/write privileges for "group containing the GoldMine uers" in the domain, this might be for example "Everyone' on more open systems and a specific windows user group "GMUsers" on more restricted systems
    2. Verify that the mapped drive letter is the same for other workstations that is not showing this behavior
    3. Verify the the the local gm.ini is pointing to the correct server drive location that contains the license file:
    a. open the local gm.ini in notepad
    b. verify that the UNC/Mapped drive location is correct
    The correct format of the Realini entry is for example
    REALINI=\\servername\goldmineshare\gm.ini or REALINI=M:\goldmineshare\gm.ini
    c. this can be compared to a networked workstation that is not showing this behavior

    Note: If all the above is verified and the user is still being prompted to browse out to the license file, it is suggested that the network admin is contacted to verify domain and/or network privileges for the affected user
