Error when starting Report Builder to modify Report Templates: Microsoft.ReportingServices.ComponentLibrary.Controls.dll, has a different computed hash than specified in manifest

    This article has information about a problem when starting Microsoft SQL Server Report Builder to edit the reports that come with the HEAT Premise Service Management application.


    The Report Builder tool will not start and will terminate with a message "Application validation did not succeed".  The details of the error are that "Microsoft.ReportingServices.ComponentLibrary.Controls.dll, has a different computed hash than specified in manifest". 

     


    Resolution

     

    This is an issue that arises after applying Service Pack 3 to SQL Server 2008 R2.
