Application Publishing Service (APS) will not start, error 3687 - APS Log Error: "A Bug Check (BSOD) was detected from a previous system start and iGoldMine has been disabled."

    Application Publishing Service (APS) will not start, error 3687 - APS Log shows the error of: "A Bug Check (BSOD) was detected from a previous system start and iGoldMine has been disabled. To re-enable iGoldMine, delete the C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\DBCM.bin file and restart the computer."

    aps (4840) A Bug Check (BSOD) was detected from a previous system start and iGoldMine has been disabled. To re-enable iGoldMine, delete the C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\DBCM.bin file and restart the computer. To prevent a Bug Check from disabling iGoldMine, create the DWORD registry value [\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ggse\DBCM_Disabled] and set it to 0x00000001. (Diagnostic DBCM bits 0x01ff0000)



     


    Resolution

    1. Browse out to the directory stated in the log file

    2. Delete or rename the file: DBCM.bin
    3. Restart the iGoldMine server
    4. The APS service will now start successfully

    To prevent this from happening in the future:

    1. Backup the Windows Registry.
    2. Create the following DWORD registry value;

    [\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ggse\DBCM_Disabled] and set it to 0x00000001

    3. Restart the server.
