Version 1

    Details

If the F2 Lookup list contains more values as  the set display limit in the System settings a value cannot be reached  by pressing the first characters e.g. T or U

    [STEPS]
These  steps are only to demonstrate the behavior a real life scenario will  usually be that the amount of lookup entries are much more for example  1000
    1. Login as a user with master rights
    2. Tools > Configure > System Settings
    3. Display Tab
    4. Make sure the Limit for maximum records shown as default 500

    5. OK
    6. Browse to Bea Defkow
    7. F2 into Country to open the Lookup list
    8. Enter U

    [RESULT]
The first entry starting with U will be highlighted which is U.S.A.

    9. Tools > Configure > System Settings
    10. Display Tab
    11. Change the Limit for maximum records shown as to 10

    12. OK
    13. Browse to Bea Defkow
    14. F2 into Country to open the Lookup list
    15. Enter U

    [RESULT]
    Nothing happens!

The following screenshot is only for demonstration that really only 10 records are currently loaded

    Resolution

    [CAUSE]
    - The reason is that only the first x rows for  the F2 Lookup list are loaded into the F2 Lookup window determined by the setting in Tools > Configure > System Settings > Tab Display.
    - Every row beyond  this initial load limit will not be reachable unless you overcome the first  portion by scrolling down
    - This is RM Issue # 232910

    [WORKAROUND]
    A. Scroll down to overcome the limit

    1. Browse to Bea Defkow
    2. F2 into Country to open the Lookup list

    [RESULT]
    T
his will from above's example only show countries from Australia to Mexico (the first 10 records)

    3. Scroll down to load the next portion of x rows

    4. Enter U

    [RESULT]
The first entry starting with U will be highlighted which is U.S.A.

    Additional Note:
    -
The default limit for the shown records in GoldMine Premium Edition is 500, so that most likely at maximum 2 times the scroll down to overcome the limit would be necessary, for example when there are 1025 F2 Lookup entries for the certain field available.
    - This workaround might not be feasible in all instances as some buttons may get inactive, so we recommend to use this workaround only in order to select values with highlight and the ENTER key, for further information please refer to the related knowledge Article # 19615

    B. Raise the limit for shown records via the System Settings

Set the Limit  appropriately which is expected not to affect the system's performance  too much but cover such Lookup lists, the maximum GoldMine Technical Support is aware as of yet for the F2 Lookup List is that there are more than 1000 but less then 1500 entries available, so considering the overall performance of GoldMine as this setting also affects most other lists within GoldMine a set limit of 1500 might be a reasonable.

    1. Login as a user with master rights
    2. Tools > Configure > System Settings
    3. Tab Display
    4. Set the Limit for maximum records shown appropriately for example to 1000 or 1500 (while we think that values of 1000 or 1500 should be still not have impact on the overall performance any higher values need to be tested and considered carefully)

    5. OK
    6. Browse to Bea Defkow
    7. F2 into Country to open the Lookup list
    8. Enter U

    [RESULT]

The first entry starting with U will be highlighted which is U.S.A.
