    How to create a new Primary fields view >> Right Click >> Screens Setup allows only to create a Custom view under the Fields tab

    [STEPS TO REPRODUCE]

    1. Log in with master rights
    2. Tools >> Configure
    >> RESULT: There is only an option for creation of Custom Screens which are available screens under the tab Fields or setup as own tabs



    3. Right Click on the Contact record primary view (Top portion) >> Screens Setup
    >> RESULT: There is only an option for creation of Custom Screens which are available screens under the tab Fields or setup as own tabs

    4. Tools >> Configure >> Record Types
    5. Browse and expand to Primary Field Views
    6. Right Click
    >> RESULT: There is no New Primary Field view option



    How to create a new Primary fields view?


    Resolution

    [CAUSE]
    Primary Views cannot be created from the scratch but always need an initial base view therefore it must be a cloned Primary View which then will be adjusted as desired or saved as a new Primary Fields (view) from an existing (modified) Primary Fields (view)

    [RESOLUTION]

    Alternative 1:
    - This is described in Online Help >> Administration Guide > Customizing GoldMine > Primary Field Views > Creating Primary Field Views
    - This is performed directly from the current screen and the view design tool, the user may need to go afterwards into the Record Type Administration Center to adjust Record Types and Rules if applicable

    1. Log in with master rights
    2. Determine the most similar existing Primary View
    a. Preferred on a test contact record
    b. Right click >> Select Primary Views
    c. verify each of the available Primary Fields Views and select the desired one them which matches the most your new desired Primary View


    3. Right-click in the Primary Fields panes >> Screen Design. 
    >> The Screen Design toolbar appears and the contact record displays with a grid-like series of lines.


    4. Modify the screen as desired via adding or removing fields to/from the screen, adjusting field properties etc.
    5. Once finished >> Click Save as button in the Designer tool bar


    6. In the Main View Profile dialog box, provide a name and if applicable the User Access


    7. OK
    >> RESULT: The new view appears in screen design mode and ready for use or further modification.


    8. If applicable Tools >> Configure >> Record Types in order to adjust the new Primary View to be used for Record Types etc.


    Alternative 2:

    - via this way Record Typing, Rules etc can already adjusted and prepared and then as final action the Primary view adjusted by adding, adjusting or removing fields on the view directly

    1. Log in with master rights
    2. Determine the most similar existing Primary View
    a. Preferred on a test contact record
    b. Right click >> Select Primary Views
    c. verify each of the available Primary Fields Views and select the desired one them


    3.  Tools >> Configure >> Record Types
    4. Browse and expand to Primary Field Views
    5. Right Click on the view determined from step 1. >> Clone


    6. In the Main View Profile dialog box, provide a name and if applicable the User Access


    7. OK
    8. Browse to a contact record preferred to a test contact record
    9. Right Click >> Select Primary Views >> Select the cloned Primary/Main View from step 5. - 7.


    10. Right-click in the Primary Fields panes >> Select Screen Design. 
    >> The Screen Design toolbar appears and the contact record displays with a grid-like series of lines.
    11. Modify the screen as desired via adding or removing fields to/from the screen, adjusting field properties etc.
    12. Once finished >> Exit on the Designer tool bar
    >> RESULT: The new Primary View is now available for usage and is already setup and integrated in current Record Types setup
