Write Letter to Contact and/or Write Memo to contact and /or Write Fax to Contact entries in the Actions menu print different letters for users. Why is this and can I adjust?

Version 1

    Details

    Write Letter to Contact and/or Write Memo to contact and /or Write Fax to Contact entries in the Actions menu print different letters for  users. Why is this and can I assign our global templates to the menus for all users?

    Resolution

    GoldMine sets by system defaults the same default templates  as Letter: to Blank Letter, the default Memo: to Sample Blank Memo and  the default Fax: to Fax Cover Sheet, but every user can assign his/her  own default templates e.g. with own signatures or depending on department or division This  provides flexibility when different teams or users need to collaborate  within GoldMine and is the major intention of the application.

    The  GoldMine Administrator can force to use a set of templates for Letter:,  Memo: and Fax: default by an override section in the GM.INI which will  impact the specific menus but will still allow the user to merge also to  different templates from the Document Management Center

    [STEPS]
    1. to set own default templates
    2. Go To >> Document Templates
    3.  Browse to the specific template you want to be your default template  (this can be also from another user or a public template)
    4. Right Click on the desired template >> Set as Default >> select the desired default type Letter, Memo or Fax
    5. verify the functionality of the Actions >> Write ... menu if the action and template is the the desired one.
    6. the default templates can be changed any time again

    Additional Info:
    - the default templates setting are stored on a per user base in the USER.INI with the following details:
    [DocCtr]
    Def0=|recid of template|
    Def1=|recid of template|
    Def2=|recid of template|

    -  a GoldMine Administrator can force the default templates by an  user-override setting for the section in the GM.INI. This needs to be  documented and communicated with the users as it will override their  personal preferences
    [User-Override:DocCtr]
    Def0=|recid of template|
    Def1=|recid of template|
    Def2=|recid of template|
