    Resolution

    [CAUSE]
    - The Details/Links tab from Opportunities is not designed to have a reference to a folder but instead expects a real file name in order to open this link  in the desired application.
    - A Change Request is logged as RM # 205277

    [WORKAROUND]

    - Create Shortcut files on a (shared) location - it might be considered to protect them with read only rights) and use instead the Shortcut file in Opportunities or Project's Details/Links tab
    1. On the Windows system (recommended on a shared folder where users can access the shortcut 'files'
    2. Right Click >> Shortcut
    3. Create the shortcut to the desired location with the desired link name as desired

    4. Browse to an Opportunity record
    5. Tab Details/Links
    6. Right Click >> New
    7. In File Name enter manually the location and Shortcut file name like X:\gmdata (w12r2).lnk
(alternatively drag and drop the Shortcut file into the Details/Links tab)
    8. Enter in all other fields like Item, Reference information as desired

    9. OK
    10. Double click on the Details/Links record
    >> RESULT: The record will now open the desired folder in a Windows Explorer window
