Is there any chance to disable the Red X button (Delete Contact) on the Contact List view or contact record tool bar, without taking away the possibility for the user to delete records from the tabs; like history, details, links etc?

Version 1

    Details

    - The DELETE 'X' is in a spot that can be used accidentally a lot of times as it is nearby the refresh button and it is very powerful as the dialogue box that it generates is auto-populated with all the selections.

    - To overcome this, the obvious solution is to take away delete rights for the users, which is good for the overall contact record but also prevents the user from consciously deleting additional contact records, history entries, linked documents etc., as the context menu Delete on those records is grayed out.

    >> Is there any chance to disable the Red X button (Delete Contact) on the Contact List view or contact record tool bar, without taking away the possibility for the user to delete records from the tabs like history, details, links etc?

    [STEPS TO REPRODUCE]
    1. Log in with Master rights

    2. Tools >> Users' settings
    3. Highlight the user >> Button Properties
    4. Tab Access
    5. Deactivate Delete
    6. OK >> Close
    7. Log into GoldMine as the testing user

    [RESULT]
    - The Delete icon has vanished or is grayed out (expected)

    - The user no longer has an opportunity to  delete any records below the tabs e.g. an additional contact record, a  history record or a linked document etc as the context menu Delete is grayed out (unexpected and undesired)

    Resolution

The below workflow will deactivate the Delete button (making it impossible for users to delete a contact record via the X icon) but leaving them the opportunity to still delete records under the tabs e.g. historical entries or details etc.

    [STEPS]

    1. Log in with Master rights
    2. Tools >> Users' settings
    3. Highlight the user you agreed to test with >> Button Properties
    4. Tab Menu
    5. Expand the tree Edit
    6. Deactivate (mark as red) the entry Delete Contact
    7. OK >> Close
    8. Log into GoldMine as the testing user
    9. Verify that the Red X in the Contact List view or on the Contact record is grayed out

    10. Browse e.g. to a test detail or a test history record
    11. Highlight the record under the certain tab and verify that the user still has the Delete context menu available and that this works

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Removing the Delete menu entry will still allow the user to delete a contact record via the DEL Key on the keyboard
