Database operation error: "Cannot allocated space for object dbo.<tablename> in database <name> because the primary file group is full." Create disk space by deleting unneeded files, dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup.
This error indicates that the size of the database is too large for the SQL Express version that you are running.
Database size limitations for SQL 2008 Express and above are 10 GB per database. SQL 2005 Express and below are 4 GB per database.
The following actions may reduce the size of your database: * Purging GoldMine logs older than 3 months * Deleting unnecessary files * Moving older data to an archived database .
If the size of the database cannot be cut below the SQL Express size limitation, you will need to upgrade to a different supported edition of Microsoft SQL Server which does not have a 10 GB or 4 GB database size limitation.
NOTE-- To verify the version of SQL you are running - in SSMS or "SQL Server Management Studio" Run the following Select statement and expand the results. I have seen cases were someone thought they were using the full version of SQL and were actually running SQL Express.
