Version 1

    Details

We want users to be able to edit one specific field in GoldMine.  Currently users are set to not be able to edit fields under user properties >> Access >> Edit Fields.  How can we accomplish this?

    Resolution

1 - By not allowing users to edit fields under user properties >> Access >> Edit Fields, there is not a way to allow a specific field to be edited as an exclusion.

2 - This can be accomplished however by allowing users to edit fields in the user properties then setting all fields but one to allow editing.
3 - Login as a MASTER user and right click on each field label >> Properties >> Security tab >> Set Read and Update Rights as desired >> OK.

4 - Change the users Properties to allow editing of fields after all field access rights have been set.  This is done by logging in as a user with MASTER rights >> Tools >> Users' settings >> Highlight user >> Properties >> Access tab >> "

5 - To learn more about field configurations and access rights, please see the GoldMine Premium Edition Administrator Guide >> Customizing GoldMine >> Editing Field Properties.
6 - This will also allow more granular control as well, because user groups can be created if there is a need for some fields to be edited by some users but not others.  To learn more about setting up user groups and security please see the GoldMine Premium Edition Administrator Guide >> User Administration >> Users Properties.
