Special Characters are destroyed in the CSV, DBF, SDF or ASCII file after records have been exported from GoldMine

Version 1

    Details

Special Characters are destroyed in the CSV, DBF, SDF or ASCII file after records have been exported from GoldMine

    [PRE-REQUISIT]

    1. Create a new contact record with the name of Henry Çagan (ALT+0199)

    2. Create a Contact group with only this record for example by tagged record or creating an empty contact group and adding the contact manually into the contact group
Additional Information: This is necessary due to RM # 162232 - Export of tagged records does not respect tagging in the contact search center which is also described in the related KM Article # 21861

    [STEPS TO REPRODUCE]
    1. File >> Import and Export >> Export Contact Records...
    2. Select Export to a new file + CSV file (same applies to all other file types, like DBF, ASCII, SDF)
    3. Select the specific contact group from the drop-down and select only Primary
    4. Map the Contact field for export
    5. Assign an appropriate location and file name
    6. Save the profile if desired and export the contact record
    7. Open the export file with a matching application for example CSV files with Microsoft Excel
    >> RESULT: Instead of Henry Çagan the special character appears incorrect

    Resolution

    [RESOLUTION]
Use the Convert ANSI to OEM setting in step 4 within the Export profile if this behavior is experienced

    5. Toggle the setting Convert ANSI to OEM (this setting needs to be checked or unchecked, usually the opposite as it was in the previous steps to reproduce)

    6. Assign an appropriate location and file name
    7. Save the profile if desired and export the contact record
    8. Open the export file with a matching application for example CSV files with Microsoft Excel
    >> RESULT: Now the special character appears correctly as Henry Çagan
