Generic questions about Hot fixes and any new versions of GoldMine Premium Edition (GMPE and GMConnect)

    a. is it necessary to apply the  GoldMine Premium Edition Hot fix (containing GMPE and GoldMine Connect)  every month when a Hot fix or a new version is released?

    b. is it necessary to upgrade always both applications - GoldMine Premium Edition and GoldMine Connect?

    c. is it  necessary to uninstall and reinstall both applications - GoldMine Premium Edition and GoldMine Connect?

    Resolution

    a. is it necessary to apply the GoldMine Premium Edition Hot fix (containing GMPE and GoldMine Connect) every month when a Hot fix or a new version is released?

    - it is not expected and necessary to follow every  Hot fix and new version of GoldMine/GoldMine Connect.
    - The recommendation  is that a GoldMine Administrator reviews at least every release's Release Notes and then determines if an upgrade would be necessary, appropriate  or helpful for the current GoldMine / GoldMine Connect system.
    - Additionally it might be the case that GoldMine Technical Support  requests a customer to upgrade to a newer version as maybe log features  were improved or changes for a specific RM issue/RM feature may have  impact on a currently experienced GoldMine/GoldMine Connect behavior  although they are not explicitly stated as fixed or changed.
    - Of course  GoldMine Technical Support recommends not to skip too many versions or  Hot fixes and to be up to date as time and efforts permits for a  customer - especially for GoldMine Connect the effort should be  considered as fairly small, so that customers may be able to be  constantly on the current build.

    b. is it necessary to upgrade always both applications - GoldMine Premium Edition and GoldMine Connect?
    - it is not necessary to  upgrade always both applications - GoldMine Premium Edition and GoldMine  Connect - unless it is either mentioned in the related release notes of  the current version/hot fix
    - usually it is necessary to be on the same  main version but not necessarily on the same Hot fix version, for  example GMPE 2014.2 HF 2 and GoldMine Connect 2014.2 HF 4, but not GMPE  2013.1 and GoldMine Connect 2014.2
    - Further and more detailed information is also available in our Knowledge Articles #16037 and # 16038

    c. is it  necessary to uninstall and reinstall both applications - GoldMine Premium Edition and GoldMine Connect?

    GoldMine Premium Edition
    - unless  there are no different information in the Release Notes or the ReadMe  file a GoldMine Premium Edition upgrade is always a real upgrade process  means on top of the current installation.
    - This applies to the application server, the networked clients and the undocked site's or  user's installations.
    - If any client did not have any GoldMine  installation then the desired build can be installed initially as the  GoldMine Premium Edition installation files is always a complete  installer which recognizes on the current system if an existing GoldMine  installation needs to be upgraded or a new GoldMine installation needs  to be performed.

    GoldMine Connect
    - any installed GoldMine Connect 2014.2 needs always to be uninstalled and then reinstalled with the new version or Hot fix. This applies when 'upgrading' to any GoldMine Connect 2014.2 Hot fix and also in order to upgrade to any GoldMine Connect 2015.1 version or Hot fix.
    - starting with a installed GoldMine Connect 2015.1 and higher installation, GoldMine Connect can be upgraded without the need to uninstall the previous version
    - please always make sure to review the related Release Notes if there are any changes regarding the upgrade procedure for GoldMine Connect
    - For GoldMine Connect clients there is no need to upgrade anything on their system or device, but it is usually necessary to clear the browser's cache, which is usually also noted on the Release Notes,

Additional Note for clearing / resetting the browser's cache:
    - the following web pages provide some helpful information for clearing browser cache  on different browsers - although  we recommend to clear all browsing data, in this case clearing the  Cached images and files or also referred as temporary internet files  would be sufficient. These are provided by GoldMine Technical Support only as-is and without any warranty of any kind can be found on the below threads.
