How does GoldMine handle (different) currencies within Forecasts, Sales and Opportunities?

    Resolution

Which currency (sign) is displayed within GoldMine only relies on the actual machine's and user's regional settings > Currency format.

For Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP:
    1. Start > Control Panel
    2. Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options > Regional and Language Options. (please refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307938for further information)

    For Windows Vista
    1. Start > Control Panel
    2. Clock, Language, and Region
    3. Regional and Language Options.
    4. Formats tab
    5.
Customize this format > Currency tab
please refer to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/change-the-display-of-dates-times-currency-and-measurements for further information)

Windows 2008 Server, Windows 7, Windows 2012 Server and Windows 8:

    1. Start >Control Panel
    2. Clock, Language, and Region
    3. Region and Language
    4. Formats tab
    5. Additional settings
    6. Currency tab
    (please refer to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/change-the-display-of-dates-times-currency-and-measurements
    for further information)

Within the GoldMine system / database for any kind of Forecasts, Sales or Opportunities ONLYthe real figure without the underlying currency is stored, this means that GoldMine does not control in any way the currency and only takes it from the current currency format in the regional settings.

For example an original Forecast was setup with an amount of 1000, the forecast will display as

1000 $ on a system where US Dollars is set in the regional settings
1000 on a system where EURO is set in the regional settings
1000 £ on a system where English Pound is set in the regional settings
1000 KC on a system where Czech Crowns is set in the regional settings

This also implies that GoldMine is not capable of handling different currencies within one GoldMine system and the GoldMine administrator must be very conscious that ALL GoldMine users on ALL their machines do have the identical currency format in their regional settings with the agreed business currency as one may see that in the above examples it is very different for a business if a forecast is
£1000  or if a forecast is only 1000 KC (only about £30)
