Error when trying to save an Incident - Object reference not set to an instance of an object

    You may be able to click "New Incident" to open the Incident form, but upon saving the error occurs. 

    Full error text: 
    Business object could not be saved due to following error(s):
    Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
    Contact your system administrator.

    This article describes one possible cause and resolution for this error. 

     


    Resolution

    This error can occur if the employee accounts linked to the Incident lack a Organizational Unit. 


    All linked employees will need to have an Org Unit on their employee profile. This includes the owner, customer, and Incident creator, as well as any other accounts you might have linked to your Incident (such as a Manager or an Approver, etc.)
